Stream Hunt Bot FAQ

This FAQ answers the most common setup and gameplay questions we receive from Twitch streamers and moderators.

How long does setup usually take?

Most streamers can complete first-time setup in under 10 minutes once Twitch app credentials are already configured.

If you are also creating a custom collection from scratch, budget extra time for item import and tuning spawn weights.

Should I use chat commands or channel points for catches?

Use chat commands if you want lower-friction participation and more frequent interaction loops.

Use channel points mode if you want stricter pacing control and redemption-based intent with reduced command spam.

Can I switch collections without resetting viewer progress?

Yes. Progress is tracked per collection, so switching the active set does not erase progress in previously used sets.

This is ideal for weekly themed streams where each game night uses a different collection identity.

How do shiny targets work during a hunt?

When a moderator or streamer starts a hunt, one item becomes the active shiny target.

When someone catches that target, it is awarded as shiny and the bot rotates to a new target immediately.

What is the best cooldown for small channels?

A moderate cooldown often works best initially because it keeps interactions visible without flooding chat.

Adjust based on message velocity and moderator comfort, then keep settings stable for several streams before re-tuning.

How can viewers track their progress?

Viewers can open their channel collection page and see normal catches, shiny catches, and completion progress.

Progress persists across sessions, which helps return motivation and ongoing participation.

Do I need to be live to test setup?

No. You can test catch flow and collection updates in your own chat before going live.

Running a private test first helps confirm commands, responses, and active collection state before a production stream.

What if channel point redemptions stop triggering catches?

Verify the reward ID and ensure channel points mode is enabled in admin for that channel.

If scopes changed or tokens expired, reconnect Twitch admin auth and re-validate reward configuration.
